Carp is one of the fish you thought you couldn't catch with a flyrod ,until now. A few years a go I caught a carp by coincidence when flyfishing for Rudd with a dry fly. From that moment I had a thought of trying to fish effectively on carp with a flyrod. I tried dryfly's and nymph's but these seemed not to be effective enough to catch carp on a regular basis. The next thing I tried was the imitation of a bread crust by using a rather big hook with only beige dubbing. During fishing I used a bit of groundbait and some floating bread crust's to start the feeding of the carp. This was a better way to catch them but not on a daily basis, 1 or 2 in 5 day's. The next thing to try out was the salmon egg imitation made of Glowbug yarn or something like it. This was more like it, on this fly I could catch 4 or 5 fish on 1 day sizing from 15" to 33". Flyrods i used were AFTMA 5/7 rods.

Carp can grow as big as 38" (and even bigger) and a weight of 60 lbs at an age of ± 40 years. Carp's spawn in May when water temperature have reached 17-20 șC and lay 60000-70000 egg's witch hatch in 3-8 days.
