The Mullet is one of the fish that is assumed to be almost uncatchable with a rod and especially with a flyrod.
But nothing is less true.
This fish is, with some help of some ground bait, a good catchable fish even with a flyrod.
Although there must be one condition and that is the amount of fish that foraging your water (Schools).
The more fish, the better will be your catches.
I use a killer bug as fly made from natural rabbit dubbing, size 16 to 18.
Al you have to do is make a good ground bait and wait until the fish have discovered it.
Don’t fish straight away but wait until the fish are start to feed. (Tailing).
Now place your fly between the feeding fish and don’t do anything or just strip veryyyyy slowly .
Keep your eye on the leader point and strike when the slightest movement occurs in it.
If you missed the strike the whole procedure must be done again because this fish is very shy.
The most important is to present your fly very carefully.
If you have a strike just wait and do nothing the next moment the fish will explode and make
a run like a bonefish.
Hopefully everything will hold and your in for a great fight. These fish fight like a devil
and take very long runs.
Some tips: use the thinnest leader tip you dare.
